VoIP: A means to organizational productivity
by Kristen Kiya
VoIP is an advanced telecommunication network. Transmitting voice over internet came as an urgent need. So, Voice over IP since then took a commercial turn. This Internet protocol is actually a network that transmits voice to distant places at the same price rate. Voice IP to VoIP phone calls is free, while Voice IP to public switched telephone may bear a cost price. There are two types of PSTN to these services. These are Direct Inward Dialing (DID) and access numbers. DID connects the caller directly to the VoIP while the access numbers requires the caller to input the extension number.
Its utility is numerous. It has a number of functionalities. In-fact these functionalities can be easily en-numerated as follows:
1. The Voice Telephone Calls can be transmitted to the same broadband telephone line.
2. This system has options like 3-way calling, automatic redialing and call forwarding. 3. Digitising and Digital transmission under standardized protocols.
4. It has location independence as only one internet connection is required to avail this connection.
5. It integrates with other internet based services like messaging, video conversation or data file exchange.
The next generation of this communication system is deployed by the v2tel â€" the leading provider of VoIP application. This move from its tradition will allow v2tel to offer feature rich communication packages to its customers. However, the process of connection remains the same i.e an adaptor connects the existing high speed internet connection. The broadband connection is through high speed devices such as DSL, cable modem or local area network. A microphone can be used to transfer voice directly to a telephone adaptor.
With such innovations in technology, VoIP has become a pioneer for providing cost efficiency while simultaneously providing a cutting-edge voice quality. It is now ruling the business world as it is a cheap means of communication. The organisational productivity also increases with its adoption. Now, local calls, long distance calls or international call can be attended at cheaper rates without compromising on the voice quality.
There are also other techniques like that of ‘packet switching’ that enables the user to have fast and excellent voice quality. This happens as the technology digitilises voice signals into compressed IP packets. The noise gets absorbed in these digital packets and renders uninterrupted communication between the sender and the receiver. The providers offer two types of hosted VoIP solutions. These are named as call termination and IP Centrex Services.
So, before opting for any service provider, one must search for the best offers that are provided by VoIP providers. In order to access the cheapest VoIP solution, one should not forget to compare the offers from several service providers. So, competition in this sector is always high and that has motivated service providers to come up with value-added services. To attract customers some service providers also offer services like call forwarding, call waiting, 3-way calling and call conferencing. These services can be availed from UK voice over ip and also from other branded voice over ip.
