VoIP or voice over internet protocol can be installed in two different ways: either through trunk or hosted VoIP also known as VoIP no telecom. The difference between the two lies in the utilization of conventional telephone and fax machines.
VoIP no telecom, as the term implies refers zero usage of the conventional plain old telephone system (POTS). This is for businesses which opt for an entirely new telephone system and want their old completely replaced. VoIP no telecom is also known as 'hosted VoIP' as it means that the controls are centralized and accessed by users through an online portal.

There are several advantages that come with using VoIP no telecom system. First, it reduces communication costs as it offers by far quite low long distance charges. Many VoIP providers even allow unlimited long distance calls for a minimal cost. It also allows minimal maintenance of system and equipment. Lastly, but not limited to the aforementioned reasons, communication is standardized across many ports or locations.

When you opt to use VoIP service, you need to have a modem to gain internet access. VoIP no telecom functions through internet connections alone. So far, you can probably guess the downside of it already. If you have an unstable internet connection, then most likely problems will occur. But this is not something to be afraid of as the internet service that comes with a VoIP product rarely unstable considering that it is being utilized for business purposes.
