Voice over IP: The answer to the communication puzzle

Voice over IP: The answer to the communication puzzle.

by Kristen Kiya

One of the fastest and most cost efficient ways to communicate, Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP as it is more commonly known - has registered a phenomenal growth within a short span of time. It has become quite fashionable to make the switch from traditional phone services to voice over IP solutions. And more and more users both individual as well as institutional are doing just that.

A changeover to VoIP means different things for different people. For corporate users, there is a definite improvement in their bottom lines. There is also an improvement in the organizational efficiency and a definite reduction in 'communication faux paus' within the corporate environ. For individual users, the benefits are no less amazing. For one, they are able to make international calls at rates that were unimaginable, even a few years ago. Moreover, they are also able to enjoy quite a few extra features that generally come bundled with these services.

Moreover, the setting up of IP telephony is not that difficult to accomplish. A broadband connection - either through DSL or cable - is the only pre-requisite for end users to make the most of the voice over IP solutions. With this in place, users can make the most of the Voip services they can even make pc to pc phone calls absolutely free.

The Voip providers come with attractive plans; for instance, users can make free calls within a certain pre-specified area. The monthly charges are also quite nominal, which make these services a user's delight. Other equally amazing services are on offer; one can know the name of the person making a call, for instance, without having to pay anything extra.

The Internet connectivity has to be in place for these solutions to be operational. Unlike a traditional phone service, which can be used even during power break-offs, the voice over IP technology cannot be applied when the networks are down. An individual user could also have to face problems while using these handsets while dealing with emergency situations. As a matter of fact, it is rather impossible to trace back VoIP numbers to the source destinations. Small hiccups notwithstanding, the VoIP technology has quite a few things going right for it as well. Good voice quality, low costs, mobility, flexibility and easy deployment ensure that users remain satisfied with this new and innovative technology.

Ten Tips For Choosing A VoIP Provider

Ten Tips For Choosing A VoIP Provider

by Kwan H Lo

What should you consider when choosing a VoIP provider? Read our simple tips before you make your decision.

VoIP phone service is a fast growing business. There are many VoIP companies in the market these days, but professional VoIP reviews are very few. Here are some simple tips to help you compare individual VoIP providers before making your decision.

1) Price - Many people look for the lowest price when choosing a VoIP provider. However, price should never be your first priority. With keen competition in the market today, price difference among individual VoIP providers is very small. You should consider other factors such as service quality, customer support, service plan options etc. After all, what is the point to get the cheapest service if you cannot receive a quality phone call?

2) Service - Look for quality and reliable service. The quality of VoIP service also depends on broadband connection speed. If you want to use some standalone VoIP providers, such as Vonage and Packet8, make sure you also have high quality broadband connection.

3) Customer support - The VoIP provider should provide good customer support including 24 hours phone support 7 days a week. If you encounter any problems while installing or using the VoIP service, you could have someone to help you.

4) Satisfaction guarantee - Most VoIP companies require you to sign a one year contract. It is better to choose a company that provides satisfaction guarantee or free trial. If you don't like their service, you can terminate it within 30 days without paying a penalty fee.

5) Company size - Large companies are often better run and have more sophisticated equipments and facilities than small companies.

6) Service plans - Some plans provide unlimited local and long distance calls; some even provide unlimited global calls to international cities. If you use the VoIP phone as a secondary phone line, you can sign up for some basic plans which give you limited calling minutes at a lower monthly fee. Choose a plan that is most suitable for your need.

7) Local area codes - Find a VoIP provider which can offer a local area code. Otherwise, your friends living in your area will be charged for long distance calls when they call you using an analog phone. However, if most of your friends and relatives are living in another area, you can also choose an area code for that area, so they will only be charged for local calls when they call you.

8) Additional features - Call forwarding, voicemail, call waiting, conference call, caller ID, call filtering are all very useful bonuses. Many VoIP providers provide these services for free.

9) E911 - Make sure the VoIP provider offers E911 service (enhanced 911), which allows personal information such as your name and address to be given to local dispatch center automatically during an emergency.

10) User reviews - Read some online customer reviews as a reference. However, bear in mind that these reviews can be tainted and the quality of VoIP service is affected by other factors such as broadband connection. If in doubt, call the VoIP companies to express your concern and ask for clarification.

The innovation and advancement in the telecommunication industry is a continual process, or it can be said that, VoIP services are growing rapidly. The business houses, small & medium businesses and even residential users are increasingly adopting IP telephony services to reach new heights in communication. As a matter of fact, the basic motive of using internet telephony services is not only restricted to lowering call expenses; the motive has extended to provide users with the experience the enhanced communication. Thereby, business houses or residential users that are using traditional telephone systems or PSTN services are promoting internet telephony services for their day-to-day communication. The latest voice over IP technology is facilitating easy and cheap vocal communications across boundaries. The IP services are allowing users to talk, send and receive voice as well as video over single IP networks.

With this trend, the latest IP services have created the concept of information explosion, all over the world. As a matter of fact, these powerful services have achieved greater importance, as there is a reduction in calling costs, a simplification of the management system, and a promotion of real-time collaboration. Considering these facts, more and more business users are stepping into this domain for availing the benefits of the same. With VoIP, business houses have lowered down their monthly telephone bills by more than half as compared to the cost of PSTN services. With the passage of time, VoIP services and opportunities are on a rise. Moreover, it has given opportunity to VoIP providers, wholesalers and retailers or resellers to excel in this domain.

The VoIP reseller plays an important role in the communication chain. As a matter of fact, they ensure that end-users avail the benefits of high-end IP telephony solutions and that these solutions reach a maximum number of users, who could be located anywhere across the world. Thereby, by availing the benefits, end users enjoy longer distance as well as international calls - more efficiently and economically - than pre-existing PSTN services.

Like any provider or wholesaler, reseller also plays a huge role in spreading the IP services across the world. Anyone with an extensive customer base in a particular domain can venture into this field. With efficient and effective team of marketing, a business entity can make the best use of a VoIP reseller business opportunity.

The VoIP reseller builds an essential pivotal link between the wholesaler and end-users. Therefore, to offer the services to end users, resellers avail some portion of the IP switch from the wholesaler. The wholesalers sell their services to resellers in the garb of two VoIP reseller programs- private label and white label VoIP or platinum plan. No doubt, both these programs are profitable and easy to use, as the market is swamped with reseller opportunities.

The only difference between two programs lies in branding. In a white label VoIP reseller program, resellers re-brand their services to sell them under their own name. While, on other hand, in private label VoIP programs, resellers sell these services to their end-users; the issue of branding do not come into the picture. Therefore, it is essential for VoIP resellers to choose the right service providers or wholesalers to deliver a range of services more efficiently within established quality parameters.

The process of communication is an essential part of each and every stage of our life. Initially, the methods that we were using to communicate were quite expensive. However, the cost of the process of communication started to decline with the advancement in technology. As a result, nowadays, we are using some of the cheapest ways to communicate. The service providers of the latest means of communication are reducing their costs so that we, the people can get impressive and cost-effective ways of connecting and communicating with each other.

Nowadays, there are numerous service providers, equipment, tools, machines, setups, and devices that make our conversation unforgettable and valuable. These contraptions and different ways are providing better quality and low-price communication not only to individuals but also to large organisations and corporations. These contraptions and methods include technologies such as PSTN line, Internet, Broadband, mobile networks, and the most useful technology named Voice over IP. Now, the question comes that if you have a phone line or mobile connection then why make a call using Internet and why choose VoIP?

The answer is simple and straightforward. Voice over Internet Protocol provides the facility to make a call using the Internet and that too in a very cost-effective manner than any other available medium. VoIP, the acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol, is a process of routing of a voice conversation over the Internet. After the launch of broadband in the Internet market, the phenomenon of Voice over IP has reached its top level and today it is being used by almost every person who uses the Internet. Nowadays, almost every corporation, whether it is large or small, is using IP telephony and Voice over IP solutions to facilitate their communication. This method brings down the expenses for the companies - particularly the infrastructural investment in their communication processes.

Some people may have a misconception about Voice over IP. There are those who might think that the VoIP service is a useless thing or service, as they often compare it with the basic PSTN Phone lines or mobile services. However, the process of routing your voice over the Internet networks is a much better option from any of the above mentioned services. The main advantages of VoIP include cost effectiveness and reliability. This telephony service costs far less than any other traditional phone lines or mobile connections, as it uses the medium of the Internet. On the other hand, if we talk about the reliability of this service, it provides completely encrypted base for people to exchange their views and ideas, and as a result, the chances of the users missing even a single bit of communication is very rare.

There are some other major advantages of VoIP. A user can avail this facility, wherever they want. This means that if a person is on a vacation, then he can take his VoIP device with him and connect it to Internet to make and accept calls on the regular phone numbers at the same rates that he was paying back home. Irrespective of the specific location of a particular person, the IP Telephony would never let him go out of reach. It also includes the facility of making the calls to any point of this world and that too at cheaper rates. In quite a few countries, the providers often provide the VoIP-to-VoIP calls for free. As the result, each user of this incredible service can make or receive calls for free. The user also has to pay lower bills in comparison with the normal PSTN phone or mobile services.

The VoIP providers sell some quantity of bandwidth to the wholesalers, and then the wholesaler transfers this service to retailers, and then the retailers provide us this service at their end. By providing greater facilities such as the capability to make Internet calls, the technology of VoIP, is delivering significant benefits to the users in terms of a decrease in call costs, an increase in call efficiency and the support of reliable broadband networks.

How to become a VoIP Reseller

How to become a VoIP Reseller

by Kristen Kiya

Companies need to have a futuristic vision to survive and emerge victorious in an increasingly competitive world order. It is in their interests to look out for new opportunities. There should be a drive from within to make a mark of excellence in the collective psyche of customers and end users; and one of the ways to make this happen is to invest in new ventures and innovative technologies.

One could take VoIP, as a case in point. This latest innovation in the realms of communication is generating a lot of hype and hoopla. And not without reason. Voice over IP has facilitated communication - especially the long distance ones. Users can now connect with people in another part of the world efficiently and economically. Diverse sections of people as well as corporate users from different sectors are showing a lot of interest in this high-end technology. The market conditions are volatile - to say the least. This gives the much needed opportunity to VoIP resellers. And the good news is that certain companies can now make the most of these buoyant market conditions and become a reseller quite easily.

The key question that can be put forward in this context is 'how'. What should be the path that companies have at their disposal to make a hassle free transition from being 'just a provider' to being 'provider of VoIP services.' It is quite evident that the corporate entities that are becoming VoIP resellers are not regretting their decisions any which way. As a matter of fact, they are making the most of VoIP reseller opportunities and offering high-end call termination services to their end users, customers and clients, albeit through the support of the ISPs.

VoIP resellers need to identify the service providers and carriers of repute for specific areas in which they want to operate.

The second step involves leasing out of VoIP switches from them. Thirdly, the resellers would be selling VoIP reseller services to the end users using these sophisticated switches. Potential resellers have to ascertain that the end users are happy with the quality of their services. The selection of service providers and carriers become important in this context.

Certain points need to be kept in mind while selecting a service provider. The quality of service should be optimum. The rates at which the switches are available should be competitive. And last but not the least, the provider should be able to offer technical assistance to any potential reseller - every time that it requires the same.

A reseller in VoIP plays an important role in the communication value chain. It ensures that the high end IP telephony solutions reach a maximum number of users - who could be located in even remote areas of the world. Two constraints need to be satisfied by any individual, institution or corporate entity wishing to becoming a VoIP reseller.

1.First and foremost, they need to have a physical presence in a particular geographical area with a large base of customers, to which they can provide their services.
2.Secondly, these entities would also require a efficient and effective team of marketing professionals that can help them to market the high-end services.

From large corporations, SMBs, contact centers, call centers to individuals as well as residential users, different entities from diverse backgrounds are going in for this change. The importance of branded VoIP resellers can be understood in this context.

As a matter of fact, the business opportunities in the domain of VoIP reselling cannot be denied any longer. However, potential resellers need to understand certain factors before jumping into the reselling bandwagon. They should be aware of the interplay of different factors that motivate a customer to make that all important decision in favor of voice over IP. A basic understanding of the causes behind the failure of several startup companies in VoIP reselling could be of help. It always pays to enter the highly volatile domain of IP telephony armed with all this knowledge.

There are quite a few service providers of repute that offer branded reseller services to startups, SMBs and other interested corporate entities. The VoIP resellers, or corporates wanting to make their mark in this sector, can make the most of these services to set up their own businesses. They can then cater to the needs of the clients in their respective geographical domains and devise attractive deals and packages for their use. A VoIP reseller armed with a proper business plan can change the way it conducts itself in the corporate world.

A branded reseller of VoIP can sell the voice minutes obtained from a service provider under their own brand names. And it does not take a lot of effort to become one. Many of the reputed providers of these services offer business plans for VoIP wherein they are able to sell the products and services as well as build their brands in the process. However, the resellers going in for such a VoIP business reseller opportunity should take care of certain factors. They should ensure that a technical support is in place 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

VoIP phone service: Changing communication for the better

VoIP phone service: Changing communication for the better.

Internet has become a part and parcel of the contemporary world. Moreover, new and innovative means of using the Internet are being devised each day. The latest development in this sphere is the merger of telephone services with Internet services. VoIP phone service is very much a reality that has revolutionized voice communications in recent times irrevocably and for the better.

In VoIP phone service, users are able to make telephone calls using their broadband Internet connections. In many parts of the world, local telephone services are being replaced by VoIP services and the customers and the end users are not complaining. In fact, they are finding themselves in an advantageous position, wherein they are able to make long distance calls to other regions of the globe without having to pay through their noses for the same. The market that was the stronghold of traditional carriers is slowly but surely opening up to the reality that is voice over IP.

As of now, the VoIP service sector is a witness to a lot of activity. The market conditions are buoyant and volatile a fact that is forcing the VoIP phone service providers to cut down on the costs of the services. Customers and end users are the ultimate beneficiaries. They have a lot of flexibility in selecting the providers and carriers of their choice depending on specific situations. In simple terms, this means that an end user can now make long distance calls at affordable costs using this IP service.

This amazing feat was not achieved in a single day. It took a number of years and lot of developmental efforts in different areas to bring VoIP to where it is currently positioned today. It all started with computer users connecting with each other through their computers. However, even then, certain conditions had to be met to ensure feasibility. The users wanting to benefit from this pc-to-pc connectivity needed a stable Internet connection, a computer that was enabled for voice applications, and a special software program developed for the purpose.

In these systems, users could do away with their traditional phones and connect easily with friends, family members and colleagues, without having to pay exorbitant sums of money on the same. However, the drawbacks of using these phone services were also quite obvious. One had to be in front of a computer that was properly configured and enabled for this purpose. There was also the factor of stability in the use of dial-up connections for this purpose. In addition, the people that one wanted to communicate with had to be in front of their computers at the other hand for the proper functioning of these systems.

But that was a couple of years ago. The VoIP phone services that are in vogue today are compatible with broadband Internet connections. Apart from being very fast, these connections are more stable than the dial-up variant. Moreover, a user of VoIP services can now use a traditional telephone to make calls that are routed through the Internet.

Consumers and end users today are faced with a dilemma of choice. They have a lot of options in terms of the service providers that they want to subscribe to and the wireless VoIP phone services that they want to enjoy. Almost anybody and everybody can now make the switch from traditional phone services to VoIP services, without having to go through too much trouble.

With advantages such as cost efficiency, flexibility, reliability and stability, the popularity of VoIP Internet phone services is on the increase. The nature of these services is such that they come bundled with other equally amazing offers such as unlimited calls to certain numbers in particular geographic locales. Other services that often come bundled with a VoIP service include voicemail, call forwarding, caller ID, 3 way calling, etc., which also enhances their popularity quite significantly.

Managed VoIP services: easy talk at cheaper rates

Managed VoIP services: easy talk at cheaper rates

by Kristen Kiya

Innovations in the telecommunication industry are considered as a constant factor that has directed small and medium business (SMBs) to witness consistent growth. The successful implementation of one innovation or idea leads to the conceptualisation of another. As a matter of fact, there are several new applications that have come up with advancement in the telecommunications industry. Managed VoIP services is one such versatile application that has made communication an easy and cheap affair.

These managed VoIP services are designed keeping both relatively new users as well as existing users in mind. On using IP services, users avail the benefit of cost efficiency. As a matter of fact, these services are competent enough to lower down the heavy charges of monthly telephone bills by up to half the cost. In contrast with circuit switching technique of PSTN services, new internet telephony services are designed on the packet switching technique. This allows SMBs to opt for services and reap more profits in a more logical and planned out way.

The VoIP services optimise the use of the channel capacity available in a network. Considering this fact, one can say that VoIP service enable users to share data, video and images over the IP network. This results in best usage of bandwidth and increases the call productivity. Moreover, managed service solutions minimise the transmission latency and increase the reliability of communication to a considerable extent.

Unlike PSTN services, managed services allow SMBs or users to add and extend the telephone lines easily. Therefore, it allows users to access calls from anywhere across the world; even from the remote destinations, users can enjoy seamless connectivity with other users. For availing the managed services, users or SMBs require reliable and stable VoIP switches as transmission of data and video are routed over the same.

There are many managed services providers that lease out their switches to wholesalers and resellers. Therefore, users must select VoIP providers that deliver excellent communication solutions to users. Lastly, innovations in the telecommunication has led business conglomerates to diversify their interests to managed VoIP services. These services harness the latest technology for lowering down of telecommunication costs.

VoIP: Low cost phone calls

VoIP: Low cost phone calls.

by Kristen Kiya

There has been a number of positive developments in the telecommunications domain in the past couple of years. The competition has become intense with small and medium players giving the larger ones a run for their money. The service providers are doing all that it takes to attract and maintain a loyal base of customers in their respective areas of operation. For the callers, all these translates into low costs for making long distance calls.

Customers and end users have never had it better. They can now make calls to faraway locations, without worrying about money. They can call almost any number and that too from their personal computers quite an amazing feat in itself. Moreover, end users and customers have the freedom of using special VoIP phones to make these low cost calls. However, the selection of a 'good' service provider becomes important in this context.

A 'good' VoIP service provider is one that offers cost effective deals for making cheap telephone calls. Other value-added applications are also a part of many such deals. One could cite features such as caller ID or call waiting, for instance. In traditional telephone systems, services of such nature can generally be enjoyed only after paying an additional amount. However, in VoIP telephony, these services are often made available, absolutely free, as part of the package.

For such services to run smoothly, high speed Internet connections are a pre-requisite. The stress in on large bandwidth and high speeds. The dial-up connections consequently fare worse than the broadband connections in this regard. In broadband connections, the VoIP codecs come with a larger bandwidth. This in turn facilitates smooth transfer of voice data. The call quality is impressive. In addition, there is a lot of savings in terms of time required for the data packets to travel from one destination to the next.

Another interesting feature of VoIP is three-way call conferencing, a feature that holds special significance for domestic as well as corporate users. Corporates can communicate with colleagues located in another office and take decisions that could have an impact on the overall growth of the organisations. Individual users, on the other hand, can use these services and connect at a more personal level with people who matter who could be situated anywhere across the globe.

The VoIP telephones are also very much preferred by busy professionals and globe trotting executives. Traveling with such phones is another possibility that is currently being explored by many among them.

There is another scenario that one could consider. Say, there is a shift in address for a person. He is required to move out from one address and go to a new one â€" which could be due to either professional or personal obligations. In such an instance, staying connected with people who matter could tend to become a problem. One would not like to spend exorbitant amounts as phone bills, which would be quite likely if one uses PSTN phone services. In such instances, potential users could check out the facility of having local numbers with Internet telephony services.

Voice over IP, or VoIP as it is commonly called, is one of the most important developments of recent times. In VoIP, phone calls are made using the medium of the Internet. The process is quite similar to the way we send and receive emails. However, the voice data is converted into digital data packets, compressed, and then routed over the Internet.

Vbuzzer Internet Phone Review - Cheapest VoIP Phone in Canada

Recently I received an email from a Canadian internet phone service provider Vbuzzer http://www.vbuzzer.com/, in the email they were offering a Toronto internet phone at $25 per year, the offer gives you a Toronto phone number and unlimited calling capacity to some Greater Toronto Areas. The price is no doubt excellent, only half of vbuzzer's regular price, and so far the cheapest among all other VoIP service providers. Maybe the only comparable is Skype, who offers $30 a year unlimited US & Canada calling; this time Vbuzzer offers almost a complete local phone service at $25 a year.

Being a BuzzOut user for more than a year, Vbuzzer gives me pretty good impression, the service is overall very reliable, voice quality is good, especially from 3 months ago the calls get connected faster and voice clearer. Although I don't quite need an extra Toronto 416 number, $25/year price tag melt my resistance. So I signed up the service, and bought a cheap unlocked Linksys PAP2 from a local vendor, the installation worked out smoothly. Surprisingly, when I dial the new BuzzMe number, both Vbuzzer Messenger and Linksys PAP2 ring, soon after I pick up one, the other stopped ringing - Vbuzzer guys made quite some improvement on their service. Good job Vbuzzer!

Other feature I like is the new call forward feature, Vbuzzer adds a few good conditions on their call forwarding, such as busy forward, timeout forward etc., much better than the old "either or" type of call forward. The page of Canada Internet Phone Service can be found here http://www.vbuzzer.com/ld/calltoronto.php

If I have to scale both Vbuzzer and Skype from 1 to 10, I would give Vbuzzer 9 and Skype 7. I do like Skype but now I stopped using Skype, Skype is much more expensive and didn't provide better quality. For those who are seeking Skype alternatives, I highly recommend to try Vbuzzer, you can find vbuzzer at http://www.vbuzzer.com/

Is using VoIP phone service beneficial

Is using VoIP phone service beneficial?

by Kristen Kiya

Large corporate houses, small and medium establishments as well as individual users have one thing in common. Many of these entities are using VoIP phone service â€" in one form or another - to cater to their specific needs. While big corporations and SMBs are dependent on Voice over IP to facilitate their off-site communications, individuals are more than happy with the significant reduction in phone bills that is possible with VoIP.

It can be said that voice over IP has changed our perception about communication irrevocably and for the better. PSTN services are now a thing of the past in many areas of the globe. VoIP Resellers: serving the end users with great efficiency

VoIP Resellers: serving the end users with great efficiency

by Kristen Kiya

Whether the customer is a professional, a businessperson, or a residential user, the VoIP resellers are serving them efficiently. The VoIP reseller works as intermediary between the providers and end users. They avail some portion of IP switches from recognized service providers and serve it to end users.

By observing the current market trends, we can say that voice over IP is securing immense popularity over standard switch telephony networks. Therefore, it will not be wrong to say that affiliation with VoIP providers and VoIP resellers is an ultimate prospect to relate with the great carriers.

This is a fact that each day many business and corporate houses are moving towards the voice services for getting more advantages and benefits. If a person has a large customer base and proficient marketing capabilities, then he or she can clearly get great turnovers from a VoIP reseller business opportunity. The service providers or wholesalers serve complete infrastructures and offer technical support to the IP resellers to steer their calls over the Internet. Accordingly, the resellers should take care about putting fewer investment for proffering the VoIP reseller services to the end users.

A good command over the technology behind voice over internet protocol is not needed for entities wanting to make the most of any reseller business opportunity that could present itself from time to time. If we look at the modern world and the future drifts of the voice over IP, we will find that there is an extreme spurt in the need for VoIP wholesaler and reseller services. With the proper application of call termination to their business, the corporate users are able to transfer voice, data, and video concurrently over one IP network. With VoIP, users get the ability to undertake assorted chores and they can even make multi calls or surf the Internet while conversing at a given time.

VoIP reseller services include various provisions like accessing Internet at high-speeds and enabling the end users to make more than one call at any time. The Voice over IP resellers are also permitting their end users to share videos, data, and voice by using a single line only. In addition, the users can make long distance international calls at inexpensive call rates.

VOIP Is In Your Budget

VOIP Is In Your Budget

by Jason Brashear

In today's fast paced world, IT costs have sky rocketed making it extremely difficult to stay current with todays network technologies.

Many agencys are implementing VOIP (Voice Over IP) to save mula on communication expenditures. By harnessing the power of the Internet to make phone calls, long-distance contact with clients and customers doesn't have to drain company coffers. VOIP is an inexpensive way to set up a phone system for your business, but it becomes even more cost-effective if you can set it up on a budget.

One way to save mula on a VOIP network is to make use of open source software.Asterisk@home is open source software that allows you to set up VOIP without the added expense of purchasing a commercial application. An open source telephony engine and tool kit, Asterisk@home is the best VOIP program you can find that doesn't cost a cent. You can download this program for free from the Asterisk@home website and use it to seamlessly integrate VOIP into your business.

The most popular open source telephony program in the world, Asterisk@home is flexible to the needs of your agencys, as it can be configured as the core of an IP or hybrid PBX, to switch calls, manage routes, enable features, and connect callers through analog and digital connections.

TIP: Voice over IP (VoIP) can provide a great ROI for your business.

In addition, Asterisk@home can run on Linux, Mac OS X, Open BSD, FreeBSD, and Sun Solaris with everything you expect from a higher-cost proprietary PBX. The flexibility of Asterisk@home is its greatest asset, allowing your company to handle VOIP in multiple protocols with almost all standards-based telephony equipment in conjunction with affordable hardware.

Combine Asterisk@home with Cisco 7940g IP Phone hardware and you can establish a VOIP network at the office on a shoestring. Cisco 7940g IP Phone hardware lets you enjoy the benefits of VOIP without sacrificing the features and convenience of a standard business phone. Cisco's VOIP phone hardware has the potential to increase workforce productivity, increasing profits. The IP phones from Cisco are available with color LCD displays, and dynamic soft keys for call features and functions. The phones provide support for information services with XML capabilities to expand IP phone systems. You can customize Cisco IP phones so that users can access information such as stock quotes, directories, and online content through the phones.

If you purchase re certified servers to set up VOIP, you can save even more mula. Re certified servers are sold at a fraction of the original cost, but operate just as well as new servers. Re certified simply refers to the fact that the equipment was returned by another customer, but never used. The manufacturer tests the product again to ensure proper functioning, repackages it, and sells it for a reduced price. Re certified servers can't be sold as new, even though they are good as new, so they are re-sold for much less than the original asking price. Purchasing re certified servers is an effective cost-saving strategy for any company wanting to establish a VOIP network on a budget.

Things to know when buying from a reseller:

Contact the dealer's local Better Business Bureau:

While a clean record by itself might not be definitive proof of an honest dealer , it is one more tool to use in deciding where to place your business.

Ask what professional organizations their company belongs to:

There are a number of dealer/reseller organizations that companies belong to which enforce high ethical standards. If they hesitate in answering , consider it a yellow caution flag. If they answer , ask for the organization's phone number/email. Contact the organization directly and confirm if the dealer is a legitimate member. Teksavers Networking is a member in good standing with UNEDA.com.

What is the refurbishment/testing process?
Ask the dealer before placing any orders what steps they perform on their refurbished Cisco and refurbished Juniper prior to shipping product. You want to be sure that it involves more than blowing the dust off. Click for Teksavers Networking's testing/refurbishment process.

What is the company's return policy?
Returning product is always a touchy subject with all dealers. If the product is a special order , some manufacturers may refuse to accept it back from the reseller. If the product has been opened , the value drops considerably. This is true even if it has never been used. Just breaking the seal on a box renders it as used equipment as far as a bank or flooring company is concerned. It helps to investigate this and ask any questions/concerns you have before you place any orders and avoid any unpleasantness after the fact. Dealers post usually their return policies on their Web sites as well as their invoices. Read these policies carefully or you may get stuck with the product or a hefty restocking if you order incorrectly. Dealers vary widely in their policies; from no returns unless the product is DOA to generous open ended returns with no questions asked and no re-stocking fees. Special orders may be non-cancelable and non-returnable; again , check with the individual dealer before placing that purchase order.

VoIP Reseller programs: channel that links resellers with end-users

VoIP Reseller programs: channel that links resellers with end-users

by Kristen Kiya

In the present-day world, the way one communicates holds immense significance especially in the business and corporate sector. The innovation and advancement of communication technology is on continual progress over several years. But, with the emergence of latest VoIP technology, businesses and corporate users are bidding an adieu to the years old PSTN services. The latest voice over IP technology is facilitating easy and cheap vocal communications across boundaries.

The best part of VoIP services is that the cost of call termination is reduced by up to 40 to 60 percent. Therefore, for this reason, large number of users is dependent upon internet telephony services for their daily need of communications. Any interested user can venture into the domain of VoIP reselling, as it requires low investments. As a matter of fact, infrastructural and hardware requirement are put in place by the providers and wholesalers in most instances. The VoIP platform providers smoothen out the entire process.

The VoIP resellers avail some portion of IP switch from wholesalers and then sell VoIP minutes to end users. Therefore, it can be said that these IP resellers hold a definite position; they ensure the wide-spread use of these innovative services. They also ensure that corporates and individuals are making the best use of emerging opportunities in this domain. The wholesaler provide VoIP reseller programs as two plans-a standard plan and a white label or platinum plan. Both these programs are profitable as well as convenient.

It can be said that the market is replete with VoIP reseller opportunities. The white label programs allow resellers to re-brand their products or services with their own brand and re-sell them. This helps the resellers in marketing the services for the users in a unique way, by making themselves distinct from existing brand names. This fact, in turn, distinguishes white label programs from standard programs. In the standard program, resellers sell already branded products and services to end users. Thereby, the main difference between the two programs is in branding. It is important that a VoIP reseller must select the right service provider to ensure that the services conform to certain established quality standards.

To conclude, it can be stated that the VoIP resellers buy services or products in wholesale and sell minutes in retail to end-users or real users. Depending upon the scale and requirements in specific instances, resellers can opt for either standard programs or they could go with white label programs.

The increasing importance of buying and selling Voip minutes

The increasing importance of buying and selling Voip minutes

by Kristen Kiya

Many of the 'present day' corporates are trying their hand at selling VoIP. While a few among them are trying very hard to bring about a change in the means of communication within their organisational context. A comprehensive communication infrastructure that can be seamlessly integrated with the other processes and production related activities is more than welcome. Their search for such a system brings them face to face with special routes facilitating a to z termination services offered by providers of repute.

Buying and selling of VoIP minutes is possible with many of the deals offered by any of these service providers. Corporate establishments can buy VoIP minutes at affordable costs to resell the same within their geographical domains. In addition, they can also buy these minutes for efficient and cost effective management of intra-organisational calls through a process that is known as “call termination.”

Buying and selling of VoIP minutes has become the new 'mantra' of the season. From well known brands in different sectors to little known entrepreneurial initiatives, almost anybody wanting to be somebody are taking recourse to this innovative means for facilitating their on-site and off-site communication. These entities are going in for the best service providers to cater to their individual needs. A lot of research is being done before the VoIP calling plans & routes are being finalized. The increasing importance being assigned to Voice over IP at different levels is now an established fact. Moreover, the process of call termination, wherein the voice data is transferred over the medium of the Internet to recipients located in another part of the world, is being recognized as the next big thing in communication.

To fulfill the rising demand, a lot of activity is happening at the supply side as well. Providers " at quite a few levels " are catering to the rising demand. Tier 1 providers, Tier 2 providers, resellers " as of now, the opportunities available in VoIP are quite diverse. The first level providers, having their own VoIP routes, are the most self sufficient. They have the infrastructure to offer a to z call termination at industry leading costs. At the second rung, there are the second level providers who take the routes from the Tier 1 providers and offer services under their own names.

The point is that a lot of buoyancy can be noticed in the market. A rising demand with more than adequate supply go a long way in ensuring the same. And so the competitive prices of A to Z VoIP termination routes should not raise any eyebrows.

It can be said that the buying and selling of VoIP minutes has become both a profitable enterprise as well as a facilitating tool for ensuring the success of any business venture. Many corporate users are therefore, rushing in for making the most of the volatile market situations. Certain factors that are proving to be decisive and swaying the decision in favor of any one provider over the next are mentioned below:

1.The cost at which VoIP calling plans and routes are available.
2.The clarity and the overall quality of the calls.
3.The steadfastness of the networks being used.
4.The availability of special services and technical support.

With its benefits and high-end services, IP solutions have widened scope to residential users also. The benefits seem more clear when we take into account the fact that the internet telephony solutions provide long distance or over sea calls at lowers rates.

The increase in ratio of people using VoIP solutions for their daily or business communication needs has raised the importance of solution providers. As a matter of fact, the tough competition among providers has motivated them to offer bundled services that includes call waiting, call forwarding, 3-way calling, call conferencing and so on. Therefore, while opting for the best VoIP solution provider, users must check the additional features and compare offers from other providers.

The VoIP business solutions work smoothly on the packet switching technique. The internet is the front runner in the entire process, as it digitalises the analog voice signals to compressed IP packets. The best part of the compressed IP packets is that it allows users to transmit data, images and video through a single network. This high-end communication solution via internet is cheaper, as it detours other related surcharges, unlike PSTN services.

The impeccable connectivity options and availability of round the clock technical support enable business houses to enjoy calling with excellent voice communication. Lastly, the VoIP industry is fast increasing as it assures users and business houses with features like reliability, security, cost efficiency and scalability. Thereby, these features offer a definite hike in the revenue of any business user actively involved in this field.

Talk and chat for free with fring mobile voip. Connect to Skype, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, Twitter & SIP contacts from anywhere.

"fring" is a free software program and service for Windows Mobile 5, 6 and Symbian phones that uses VoIP to allow you to make cheap and free calls and instant messages. If you're looking for a way to bring down the cost of making a phone call, fring may be the solution you've been seeking.

It's a unique offering that for the first time brings together connections to Skype, SIP, GoogleTalk, MSN Messenger, plus the sub-blogging service Twitter. You can choose whatever SIP service you like, including the GizmoProject, VoipCheap, VoipStunt, Free World DialUp and others, and even use SIP on fring with otherwise non-SIP enabled devices. These services come together on your mobile handset to give you the best possible chances to keep your phone costs low.

The arrangement works over over 3G, GPRS and Wi-Fi networks regardless of your carrier. All you need is your carrier's data plan or a hotspot and you';re good to go to make a free or low cost VoIP call. It allows you to conserve you airtime and save it for circumstances when no Wi-Fi connection is available. In addition, fring to fring calls are entirely free which makes buddy-to-buddy communications a snap. If you have a lot of friends, you'll love fring.

To begin a conversation, you simply pick a contact and hit the green button, or go to options and then click either call or chat to begin a communication session. Does it get much easier than that?

fring allows you to organize all your IM and phone contacts in one place and rather than using SMS, you can chat freely using Messenger. For $30 per year you can use your SkypeOut account to make free calls to any phone in North America and low cost international calls.

If you have a lot of IM contacts, you can not only see when your friends are online, you can also see if they're typing or not. It makes the chat feel more like a real conversation instead of waiting in limbo as they type their responses.

I've been a Skype user for years now and have all my phone numbers and contact information located there, so fring is a big plus in helping me to keep all this information together and make it available when I use the other services. The beauty of Skype (besides VoIP) is that it's very much like GMail in that, your information does not exist on your device. You can access it from anywhere and on any device including your laptop, so it's always available no matter what circumstances you find yourself in. All you need is an Internet connection and it's always handy. That's a big advantage for a person on the go and fring is a perfect tool to get the most out of the security and convenience this offers.

The beauty of the chat feature of fring as compared to SMS, is that you can view your entire chat conversation in real-time on your handset and reduce the high accumulated costs of SMS. However, fring does have some annoying aspects. Such as when you have 4 contacts named simply Joe and there's no way to distinguish them. It's a real oversight and needs to be corrected. Fortunately, it should only be a problem if you have too many people with the same identifying name on your list.

I laud the creators of fring for their efforts to create a different means for people to talk at much lower costs. The cellphone industry needs to be reigned in and taken to task for not providing cost effective services for people and businesses to use. Products like fring (if they become widely enough used) can put pressure on these companies and force them to lower the cost of phone calls for everyone. Hopefully, enough people will adopt fing, and services like it, quickly so that this can become a reality sooner rather than later.

VoIP Carrier Services: The next idea in high-end communication

VoIP Carrier Services: The next idea in high-end communication.

The use of the Internet has grown significantly over the years. From college going kids, bored housewives, and students to on-the-move professionals, office goers, and businessmen many people from diverse social, economic and demographic backgrounds are having access to the world wide web for one reason or another. The atmosphere is conducive for more specific applications of this world-wide connection of computer networks. The increasing importance of VoIP carrier Services can be understood in this context.

As many of us know, Voice over IP has changed the way one can communicate and that too quite radically. In this process, the voice is first converted into digital signals and then transferred over the internet. With a “broadband internet connection, the call quality is good and the costs of making calls are also significantly low. There is ample demand for this cost effective way of making calls. VoIP carrier services cater to this demand and ensure that users remain more than satisfied with the services on offer.

VoIP carrier services are used by next generation carriers, corporate users such as contact centers as well as individual users. The quality of service (QoS) issues become important when any of these entities are in the process of selecting a service provider to cater to their specific needs. The providers of the wholesale carrier services, for instance, need to have many 'points of presence.' Moreover, the routes have to be all encompassing to maintain call clarity and minimise latency during the process of making calls.

The availability of proper technical support at all times is another important factor that would sway the subscription decision in favor of one VoIP carrier service provider over the next. Some of the 'best' VoIP carrier services come with 24 x 7 customer support. Another feature that distinguishes one provider from the next is the competitive rates at which it is delivering its services to its clients.

Voice over IP: Communicate effectively

Voice over IP: Communicate effectively.

The expensive telephony services of yesteryears have given way to cheap long distance calls that are routed over the Internet. Also known as Voice over IP, or IP telephony, this intelligent way of communicating is making a lot of sense to a wide cross-section of people from across the globe.

Voice over IP has several merits to its credit. First and foremost, the potential users of voice over IP services are able to make long distance calls as and when they want to, in lieu of an affordable monthly fee. As compared to the traditional phone systems, the costs of making calls using this innovative technology is quite low. The providers of these services offer some of the best deals in order to attract and retain customers in a market that is increasingly growing competitive with each passing day. All these factors ensure that the customers and end users of VoIP are able to enjoy some of the best services at best prices.

The savings accrued are huge by any standards. The phone bills that would have driven a person crazy with worry are now a thing of the past. Potential users can also make the most of the flexible nature of VoIP. They can, for instance, retain old phone numbers. Quite a few voice over IP providers exist in the online marketplace that allow users this flexibility. Many a times, potential users are free to make use of bundled services, wherein their Internet and phone services are available as part of a comprehensive packaged deal.

These bundled VoIP services translate into significant savings for both residential as well as corporate users. While switching to IP telephony, potential users could either

1.change local numbers to VoIP phone numbers or
2.go for this option as and when they want to make long distance calls

Moreover, users could often find themselves in a position, wherein they are making calls at regular intervals to some special numbers. These numbers could be the numbers of loved ones in another country or they could also be the phone numbers of colleagues and business associates located in another continent. In such instances, it would be in their interests to go for local numbers in those specific areas. These numbers can be obtained quite easily from the voip providers catering to that region. The benefit of such a switch is quite evident. The loved one or the business associate can then make calls to these local numbers to connect with the users more economically.

And the best part is that quite a few options are available to interested users. One can make calls using personal computers with related software. As a matter of fact, developments are on for integrating the personal computer with VoIP enabled phone services. One can make calls through special Voice over IP phones that are being provided by the service providers in many instances. One can also make the most of additional features such as caller ID, call waiting and call forwarding that are often a part of many of the VoIP deals. Many of these voice over IP providers also ensure that the subscribers to their services can block calls as well as forward calls to specific destinations. With 3 way calling, speed dialing, and other equally interesting options, there is something for everybody.

While selecting voice over ip providers, however, a little bit of research would always help. Potential users should go for the most affordable services. Moreover, the QoS parameters should also be kept in mind while making the final purchase decisions. Moreover, local numbers for special areas should be available. In addition, specialised services such as call forwarding and caller ID go a long way in making these offers all the more attractive.

Voice over ip service is ringing in the next generation in communication. And individuals and institutions from different domains are more than happy with the latest developments in this sphere. SMBs, large corporation, as well as individuals are going in for the switch from PSTN networks to voice over IP.

Managed VoIP services: some points for easy transition.

Managed VoIP services: some points for easy transition.

by Kristen Kiya

Many a times it becomes rather difficult for large corporations as well as small and medium businesses to invest resources in terms of time and money for hands-on management of their communication needs. Even after the decision to switch to VoIP is taken, the corporate users face a dilemma. They have to decide on whether to take the help of qualified professionals to facilitate the transition or whether they should 'go it alone.'

More often than not, SMBs tend to go for managed VoIP services, while making the transition to VoIP. These services are reliable and hassle-free. Moreover, corporate users can depend on these services for a comprehensive solution to all their communication requirements.

The voice applications of many a large corporation going for this change from PSTN services to managed services are mission critical in nature. Therefore, certain guidelines need to be followed for the successful implementation of managed VoIP. The managed services provider should be able to deliver the best voice over IP services viz-z-viz the needs and requirements of the business users. The corporate clients should keep their focus on the

1.Type of VoIP services that are available and the flexibility that these services entail. The managed services provider should be competent enough to tackle these two factors.
2.Financial stability of the service provider,
3.Availability of resources such as hosted VoIP switches and managed services solution on demand,
4.Futuristic approach of the service provider towards the long term goals of the company wanting the change,
5.Assessment of the network management capabilities of the SMBs and other organizations.

Only after the SMBs and the organisations wanting the switch are fully satisfied at all these countsâ€"a agreement should be made. The relationship between the managed service provider and users should be one of trust.

Can a VoIP Solution lead us into the future?

Can a VoIP Solution lead us into the future?

Voice over IP is the process of an IP network to carry telephone voice signals as IP packets over the internet or other data networks. IP packets are small packets of digital bits of information which are routed through the Internet infrastructure. The bit sequence of the packet (field structure) usually is arranged to convey the destination address in addition to the data that is already being transported along with other data such as the packet originator and error protection bits.

To implement a VoIP Solution all you need is a microphone for instant free voice communication in a chat room. By uniting the traditional phone system and the advanced communication capabilities of using a single data network for all communications, it is possible to reduce overall costs of communication for end users.

VoIP solutions can be utilized anywhere a broadband modem is connected to the Internet, or with the combination of a wireless network card, it may be connected over a wireless local area network. A wireless enabled device can access the Internet any time it has access to network signal.

This type of technology determines the proper system that will be used for a communication session, automatically sets the relevant parameters of the communication at both ends of the transmission and then manages call transfer and call termination. In addition, SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) allows users to initiate and receive communication from any location, networks are also capable to identify users, wherever they are. The information packets are transmitted over any open line rather than a dedicated line making communication much more effective.

The mass amount of simultaneous communications can be significantly expanded using packet switching over circuit switching. VoIP is a cutting edge technology that has the potential to completely redesign the entire world's communication infrastructure. The benefits of Wireless VoIP over cellular connections has lead the majority of interest in this method of communication thus far.

VoIP solutions have the potential to fulfill all your communication needs whether it may be telephony, data transfer, video conferencing There is no limit to the possible benefits that may be offered.

Many large companies and industries are now discovering the huge advantage of implementing VoIP to establish a better communication systems, often at a lower cost than traditional telephone service.
